Ekan®DECO-N

In-form Retarder

  • EKAN®DECO-N is a solvent-based, set retarding admixture applied to formwork surfaces to achieve a rough appearance (exposed aggregate) where the aggregates are visible on concrete surfaces.

  • EKAN®DECO-N delays the hydration of cement on the concrete surface in contact with the formwork. This process makes the aggregates more apparent on the surface of the treated concrete.

  • Facade cladding,

  • Urban furniture,

  • Highway walls.

Application

Optimum dose of EKAN®DECO-N should be established after local tests. For further information please contact with EKAN sales representatives.

EKAN®DECO-N is applied to the mold by brushing or rolling. The formwork should be removed as early as possible after pouring the concrete. Aggregates will become distinct on the concrete surface when washed with a stiff brush and high-pressure water.

To achieve good results, the concrete should be homogeneous. After pouring, it should be finished and, if necessary, subjected to brief vibration. Excessive vibration can cause segregation of fine aggregates in the mix.

The type and dosage of cement will affect the setting time of the concrete. The use of rapid-setting cement or high doses of cement in concrete design will reduce the application depth of EKAN®DECO-N

Using EKAN CONCREASY®MICRO synthetic fiber reinforcement in concrete is recommended as it enhances the cohesion of the concrete, thereby facilitating its pouring.

EKAN®DECO-N applied formwork should not be exposed to rain.
